Text : Mattew
24:42 - 51

Material
things depend on spiritual things for their existence. What will happen to your
body when your spirit leaves your body? You will die and within moments, your
body will rot meaning your body needs the spirit to survive but the spirit does
not need the body because the spirit still exists but just wouldn’t be able to
operate on earth. So the body is a tool needed by spiritual beings to operate
on earth. And that is why it is vital to give priority to spiritual things than
to feed on the body. So Jesus said, man shall not live by bread alone, but by
every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Why? Because the word is God
and God is a spirit. And those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and
in truth.
Mattew 24:
42 –So you too must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is
coming. 43 Understand this: if a homeowner knew exactly when a thief
was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. 44
You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when
lease expected, 45 “ A faithful
and wise servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of
managing his other household servants and feeding them. 46 If the
master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a
reward. 47 I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in
charge of all he owns. 48 But what if the servant is evil and
thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while’ 49 and he begins
beating the other servants, partying and getting drunk? 50 The
master will return unannounced and unexpected, 51 and he will cut
the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The hour is not known but the season is known.
We know the times and we know seasons, so if I ask when will it rain, you won’t
be able to tell me the time but you can be able to tell me its season.
And it is
not our duty to be smiting or beating up fellow servants, note the bible didn’t
say he smite or beat outsiders but fellow servants.
Some of us,
that is our problem, we keep smiting each other in the church but the body of
Christ is not filled with perfect people. Instead of smiting and talking behind
fellow Christians, why don’t we personally talk to them or better still take it
to prayers and pray that God changes them.
Ephesians 4:
11 – and He gave some to be prophets, some to be apostles, some to be pastors,
some to be evangelists, and some to be teachers for the perfection of the
saints for the work of the ministry.
We the
saints aren’t perfected. We are still in the process so you don’t have to look
at how sinful or bad fellow Christians are and judge, we are all being
perfected. So let’s stop smiting one another.
Back to the
topic. Who is a faithful and wise servant?
Jesus
answered it after He said all this. When the master comes, He is not going to
recruit people with social standards or fame but people who are faithful and
wise. Not one of them, not faithful and not wise. But faithful and wise.
And Jesus
answered the question of who is faithful and wise with parables such as the ten
virgins, the goats and the sheep and the parable of talents.
The ten
virgins talk about the ministry that is the anointing and it says that 5 had an
extra oil and 5 didn’t. So it came to a time that those without extra oil and
to leave and that was when the bridegroom came. We all need an extra oil, and
that is the Holy Spirit, The bible says and as many as are led by the spirit,
they are the sons of God. The five with extra oil were wise. We should serve
with the anointing and not our intellect. Today most people serve God with
their intellects and not the anointing.
To be a wise
and faithful servant
